Myself, Jennifer (my youngest sister), Mum and Mohamed (Mum's husband) took a 2 week vacation to Morocco.

We hired a car and travelled round Morocco, staying at Asillah, Casablanca, Marakech and finally Tangiers.

We all had a brilliant time and the following is a synopsis of the time we had.

Leaving Algerciras (Spain) on the ferry over to Tangiers (Morocco)

Mum, Mohamed & Jenny on the ferry

A view of Gibraltar from the ferry

Nice lounge on the ferry

This is the pool of our first hotel, The Zelis, in Asillah. It was at this pool that we first learned of the atrocities at the WTC, New York, 11th September 2001

More of the pool, it was well refreshing

Mum and Mohamed getting some 'rays'

Asillah's local cinema! At night, you can see the projection room (protuding above) and hear the film going round

The local mode of transport, the Donkey!

This little git ran in front of me as i was taking the picture!

A view of the beach from the outskirts of the Medina (small market) of Asillah

View from our hotel in Asillah

Rooftop of Mohamed's Family home in Casablanca. Left to right - Mourad, Achraf, Jenny and Moustaffa, Mohameds brothers

View from the rooftop

Moustaffa and I

Marakech - Eating from a stall in the 'Jemma El Fna' (the famous square in Marakech that you always see in the films)

Jemma El Fna at night (bad exposure though)

Pool at the Hotel Kenza in Marakech where we stayed for 3 nights

More of the pool

Mohamed getting a drink at the pool-side bar

Ahhh...Water-Baby, Jenny!

Rather bad picture of the view from our hotel window in Marakech at night

Jenny and I on the rooftop bar of the hotel

Jemma El Fna in the day. Pictured are the 'Water Sellers'.....guess what they do?

Mohamed with a snake

Me with a snake round my neck. This guy tried to hassle me out of money....I told him where to get off!

4 large glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice for 10 Dirahms (70p)......mmmm

We took a horse and carriage round Marakech for an hour. Jenny and mum in the picture

We ended up at a big square of water (cant remember what its called) and there was loads of fish jumping about at the top of the water

Last day in Marakech, and we went to visit a friend of Mohamed's at a holiday apartment. This pool was so nice and warm

And this pool (the baby pool) was even warmer and nicer. I was the one that found it, it was tucked away from the main pool

This was something else! Leaving Marakech we stopped here. They hack off some meat and the shop next-door BBQ's it for you. Well nice!

Us eating our 2 kilos of Beef and 2 Kilos of Lamb & bread. Mum pshycing herself up for the nightmare drive back to Casablanca. Believe me, the roads and drivers over there are mad!!!!

Casablanca - From the rooftop of Mohamed's house, next-door have been watching too much 'Changing Rooms' and decide on an external make-over (with a bit of twig and string!!!!)

Now I'm into all this Morocco thing!!!

I can't believe these guys were being suspended by a bit of rope and wood!

Achraf decides to become the big oil sheik!

Casablanca medina by evening. Trying to shop is a nightmare, constantly getting hassled by sellers. Almost puts you off shopping....ooohhhh!

Mum and Jenny in Casablanca medina

Casablanca city centre. Here's where the Hyatt hotel is that boasts the bar fom the film, 'Casablanca'

Mum letting here 'Henna' dry. Its a form of temporary tattoo from organic dye. Moroccons have it done for special occasions, especially brides at weddings

Henna close-up

Moustaffa, Achraf & Mourad as we say goodbye from Casablanca on our way to Tangiers

A view in Tangiers from a place (I forget now) where we were taken by a taxi driver, who's brother later turned out to be friend of Mohamed's

Another view from the top of Tangiers

Swimming pool at a hotel we went to. Not our hotel incidentally, the pool at the hotel we were staying at was being repaired, we were allowed to use this pool

Balcony view from McDonald's, Tangiers

The only time we ate junk food!

View from the rooftop of the hotel we stayed at in Tangiers

Another view, this time including the pool that was being renovated (booo!!)

Mum and Camel, Mohamed's brother (3rd eldest)

He is a poser (he wont mind me saying that) and he will not wear anything unless it has got a 'mark' (label!!)

Camel and Jenny

'Speciale', Morocco's homemade beer, boy we went through a few cases of that.

"Stand and Deliver!!! Hands in the Air"

(Sorry Jen, couldn't resist it)

Camels at a place we went to, Grotte de Hercules. In english, translates to 'Hercules Grotto'

That was clever!!! Taking a photo in a pitch-black cave!!

View from inside the cave, 'Hercules Grotto'. Mohamed's in the picture. This view of the sea, maps the outline of Africa (reversed)

Beach picture
